Cruisn’ in Cozumel!

Mexico was my second international trip with the kiddies alone.  I was born in Puerto Rico and am fluent in Spanish so I figured I would be comfortable traveling alone with the kiddies there.  My friends had also been planning a trip to Mexico around the same time so we wanted to make sure to link up for at least one day.

My girlfriend and I come from similar backgrounds.  We have hard-working parents who devoted (and still do) their lives to supporting their families.  Our Moms work long hours and our Fathers have non-office, physically demanding jobs.  We are the first in our immediate family to have obtained post-graduate degrees and pursue our travel dreams. This year and the traveling that we have finally been able to experience (and that I have been able to share with my kiddies) has been surreal and we do not take it for granted.

She and the hubs were staying in Cozumel, which is known for their beautiful reefs and snorkeling.  The kiddies and I were staying in Playa, which has a dock with ferries going to Cozumel every half hour.  So, we decided to get a private boat and go snorkeling in Cozumel!  It was hands down one of the best snorkeling experiences Ive had to date.  Our Captain and First Mate were knowledgeable, fun and made sure we were safe, but having a great time!

We went to three different reefs.  We saw lots of different colorful fishes, a huge sea turtle, eels, stingrays, starfish and even a shark!  The kids (and us adults) loved every minute of it.  After snorkeling they took us to a sand bar where we got to lounge around, play, have a few drinks and wait on the amazing ceviche and guacamole our Captain and the Fist Mate were making for us.

Carpe Diem has been our theme!
“Take me to where the sky touches the sea!”

After snorkeling we went to my friend’s Airbnb to wind down for the evening. The kiddies played in the pool and the adults cooked.  It was a great evening!

My beautiful friends

So many of us live in a perpetual state of wanting more—more money, more shiny new toys, more things.  My social and economic background has taught me to appreciate “moments”.  And that is what travel gives me, and as an extension what I am able to provide my children.  I look forward to making more memories and collecting many more moments.
